Pollution in our environment
Pollution affects our environment in many ways. Acid rain can kill trees, destroy the leaves of plants, and can infiltrate the soil. Not only does it destroy the aquatic life in lakes and streams, but it also corrodes metals, damages surfaces of buildings and monuments, and causes soil acidification. Pollution of water causes oxygen depletion in marine environments and will severely affect the health of whole ecosystems. Pollution will contaminate the soil, so plants will be polluted. Due to a high probability of biomagnification, the entire food web will soon be contaminated with varieties of pollution. The higher an organism’s trophic level, the higher the concentration of pollution in its body.
